The high temps and intense summer humidity can leave any fabulous gal struggling with what the most ideal summer hairstyles are.  Using a blow dryer is the utmost last thing we want do during the summer heat, and as such, the summer season is the perfect opportunity to give your mane a break from all the styling!  Hello beach waves, long loose hair, and messy braid!  Below, we show you how to style your hair for the heat with 3 fab hairstyles that will not only keep you cool, but also won’t involve icky blow dryers, flat irons, and/or hours in the steamy hot bathroom! Just think of all the fun you can have with the time you’ll be saving on your hair.

3 Summer Hairstyles To Beat The Heat

1. The Side Braid

The key to an of the moment sexy side braid is loads of volume. Start by prepping hair with all over mousse and a root lifter for ultimate volume. Also, changing the direction of your part will add a natural boost. Start with a deep side part and gather hair at the base of your neck. Loosely braid all hair, leaving about an inch at the end and secure with an elastic that matches your hair color. Then, use your fingers to tug and separate the braid to create a look that is part Hollywood starlet and part Mermaid.

2. Beachy Waves

What’s more fitting for warm weather hair than Victoria’s Secret supermodel beachy waves? This effortless look is so simple you’ll be tempted to do it daily! Start by washing your hair the night before. With slightly damp hair apply a curl cream or spray to your hair and comb thru. Divide hair into 2 sections and twist each of them in the same direction leaving about an inch at the ends loose. Next, take the 2 twisted sections and twist them together into a bun and secure with bobby pins overnight. In the morning (or 4-6 hours later if you’re doing this during the day) remove the pins and let the twists loose. Use your fingers to break up the waves and create a messy, tousled look. Finish by spraying a bit of dry shampoo to create volume at the roots and use a Sea Salt spray to create added texture on the waves. Voila!

3. High Ponytail

The perfect way to style second day hair, a high ponytail with loads of volume! Start this look by brushing thru hair and using an SPF spray to protect those strands! Pull all hair back into a high ponytail and secure with a no-break hair tie. Take a 1 inch section of hair from the underside and wrap it around the hair tie and secure with a bobby pin to create a dressier look. Finish by gently teasing the crown of the pony tail for added volume and spray with a texturizing Sea Salt spray for added body and volume. This easy look is perfect for the beach or a night out on the town!

If you missed our Del Mar Races Opening Day fashion segment with Brandi Williams on KUSI News at the track, you don’t need to worry … too much!  Yes, Opening Day is the biggest day of fashion at the track, but if you check out our outfit tips — which we’re reshowing below — then you’ll be sure to be the best dressed at every race during the rest of the 2014 season at Del Mar Racetrack. On Opening day, we broadcasted the top trends to wear to the racetrack — both for women and men — and of course the perfect attention grabbing hats to wear too.

Do you wear makeup when you workout? Or, perhaps you secretly wear makeup at the gym hoping no one will notice … maybe you don’t wear any at all! Well, there are many reasons why its okay to wear makeup for working out at the gym and we’re going to share a laundry list with you! As fashion and beauty experts, we still weren’t sure if it was okay to come out and say,”it’s true, I wear makeup before sweating it all off at Orange Theory and Barry’s Bootcamp.”

Katherine Cosmetics actually has a line of makeup specifically for working out!  It’s called K-Sport beauty.  We recently took Saturday off to attend K-Sport Beauty Bootcamp with Annie Finch, founder of Katherine Cosmetics and former Estée Lauder executive, at Rancho Valencia for a beauty and wellness experience, whilst also learning how to apply makeup for working out.  We then proceeded to work out with fab personal trainer Adam Schepps — in our makeup — and we’re talking spinning, TRX, yoga, nature jogs, and riding horses.  Of course, in between, we took breaks for nourishing green juices, healthy snacks, and cooking lessons with Chef Amy Pamensky of Nourished Balance, as well as inspirational balanced life sessions by Lavinia Erricos, founder of Equinox, and champagne and cocoa healthy truffles to end the day.

Why It’s OK To Wear Makeup To The Gym

1. Your trainer is hot

2. You pay a lot for your Lululemon and Lorna Jane workout outfits. Actually, they cost as much as cocktail dresses and you wouldn’t go to a party without makeup on!

3. You’ll spend more time working out if you look good, so put makeup on.

4. How will you achieve your workout results if you don’t workout a lot only because you don’t look good enough…refer to #3.

5. Going to the gym, Orange Theory, Fitwall, Yoga, Pilates, Barre, Soul Cycle, and/or Barry’s Bootcamp is like going to your local coffee shop, you are bound to run into someone you know!

6. It is NOT okay to reapply makeup while working out…no pocket mirrors on the treadmill

7. Your trainer is hot … refreshing #1.

8. Head to the 6am workouts, with makeup on of course…that’s when the hot guys workout who have jobs!  A little eye candy never hurt anyone and you are eye candy too.

9. Make sure your makeup is for working out and not overpowering.  No fake eyelashes or anything woman!  Remember, this is still the gym and not Live TV.

10. If you go to boot camp, it’s a long day of working out and you will want some makeup on to motivate you to get through your workouts!

What To Wear To Polo White Party

First and foremost you will want to wear white, off-white or a subdued color.  You really cant go wrong as long as you wear a white dress. We recommend a short above the knee dress or midi length to keep you cool during the day.  If you are wearing a fitted dress, make sure you will be comfortable all day even if it is hot! Crossfit requires heavy lifting from novice athletes, which can cause injuries and thus set one’s workout goals back by months. Pounding the body 5 times per week breaks down muscle mass and is unhealthy. Crossfit also encourages eating Paleo, which is a low-insulin diet; however, insulin is a necessary part of building muscle!

Son Jung Wan debuted her spring 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week on September 6th, 2014 and it was everything we hoped it would be! Dewy faced and sleek haired male and female models walked the runway in monochromatic separates with matching footwear. A ready to wear collection from Son Jung Wan meant relaxed fits, mixing of textures, asymmetrical tops and very wearable dresses, boxy playsuits and on-the-go jumpsuits, as well as neutral hues like gold and cream and deep rich hues like plum, jungle green, deep blue, and burgundy.

Standouts of the collection were the rich emerald green silk dress, the bling bling zippers on nearly every piece, and the finale jumpsuit that was embellished with thousands of sequins, beads, and bling. Wowie, need this!  Son Jun Wan spring 2015 collection is for the independent and strong-willed female who works, but also plays, and always enters the room in style, comfort, and sophistication.

NYFW spring 2015 came and went so quickly and although our time spent in NYC is a bit of a crazy blur, we wanted to share with you some of the most fabulous outfits and coolest trends, like lace cutouts, that we sported at the shows!  New York Fashion Week street style ranges from classy and sophisticated to outlandish, wacky, and super statement.  Depending on our mood of the day and shows we were to attend, our ensembles and brand of choice tended to change drastically!  On day 1 of New York Fashion Week Spring 2015, we chose to wear Yuna Yang Collection, a New York-based, Korean designer, whose label features women’s high-end couture that harmonizes the quality of traditional couture with modern vision. Each of Yuna’s designs is an art piece inspired by her own journey through the cultures of three continents as an artist, educator, and raconteur.

Our first day in the city took us from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for Yuna’s spring ’15 runway show.  Below, we’re wearing Yuna Yang Collection for NYFW Day 1.  I chose a flowy, minty gray, chiffon gown with asymmetrical detailing, high slit, and spaghetti straps and accessoriezed with navy Chanel bag and Maui Jim “Maverick” aviator sunglasses. whilst Britt chose a fabulous ivory, midi skirt paired with a lace cutout or eyelet cropped jacket.  Shop the lace cutout trend here.  Note: Eyelet, lace, and crochet are still immensely popular and will continue to be huge spring 2015 must-haves … we’re looking forward to it! 3. Get Away To San Luis Obispo

If it’s not fall to you without golden colored leaves, the smell of spices, and picking pumpkins, then check out San Luis Obispo, CA — midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco.  Home to some of the best wine on the Central Coast, SLO (as the locals call it) is a stunning setting of small beaches, rolling hills, and giant Oak trees.  Just a few minutes from Downtown is Avila Valley Barn, a throwback, rustic barn with corn field maze and pumpkin patch (hello, fall season!). You can also pick up freshly canned jams and homemade pies to enjoy once your cozy weekend comes to an end.  Fall temps hover in the low 70’s/upper 60’s during the day and drop in the evenings.

We couldn’t wait to get to NYC for the spring 2015 New York Fashion Week shows, but there was another really cool thing we were anticipating…the opportunity to indulge in the vegan diet plan that so many of the Victoria’s Secret models are eating to stay slim.  The healthy food plan we’re talking about is Sakara Organic Meal Delivery!   While at New York Fashion Week, we were super excited to have been able to eat Sakara Organic Meal Delivery to keep us healthy and nourished all week long.  One of the hardest things to cope with during fashion week is lack of food (I know … weird, right?!), but more importantly getting healthy foods in our bodies since we are constantly cabbing off to meetings, fashion shows, cocktail parties, and more with no time in between to look for suitable meal options.  So, just like the Angels and many other supermodels, we relied on Sakara to deliver our healthy vegan diet meals straight to our doorstep!
